descrição: venom é uma banda britânica de metal que gerou fortes influências no thrash e death metal actual, além criar um novo género musical, black metal, que teve um álbum e uma música com o mesmo nome, em 1982. foram influenciados pelo som bruto dos motörhead e no visual dos kiss e começaram por criar um som negro e obscuro que foi dado a conhecer a partir do primeiro álbum, 'welcome to hell' de 1981 que pavimentou o caminho para o estilo thrash. a imagem dos membros dos venom, conhecida como sombria, macabra e satânica gerou uma inspiração para bandas de black metal posteriores, que surgiram ao serem inspiradas pelo famoso álbum 'black metal' de 1982. no início, a banda chamava-se 'guillotine'.
